Surface Swabs

Swab samples of microbial growth, known as apparent mold, is a good way to assist in making a connection between a poor air quality result and a suspected source location. Swabs, unlike bulk samples, are non-invasive and cost similar to an air sample, making them an affordable option for the client to agree to during the sampling process.

Gloves are not necessary to obtain a swab sample, however it is helpful for there to be an adequate amount of microbial growth for a good specimen for the lab.

The swab samples of surfaces only take a minute or so to take, and when suspicious growth is present in varying locations and even of varying colors or textures, it is recommended to sample each spot individually for the clearest understanding of the findings.
